Youngkung Kim

SK Telecom

Youngkung Kim, Director of SK Telecom, is in charge of Next Generation OSS Tech Lab in Network Technology R&D Center. He joined SK Telecom in Aug, 2012, worked on strategy development for smart networks evolution including traffic optimization, big data analytics and virtualization for three years. Since July 2015, he is leading an OSS transformation project for SK Telecom mobile network which include consolidation of legacy OSS systems, evolution of network management platform based on cloud infra, development of new assurance functions for IoT, VNF and 5G systems, use cases of network analytics and machine learning algorithms for intelligence and automation of network operations. By this OSS transformation project, SKT’s first version of new OSS Platform TANGO(Telecom Advanced Next Generation OSS) has been successfully commercialized in 2017 and advanced development of next version of TANGO is underway to enrich the features such as AI and automation.

He received his B.E, M.E and Ph.D degrees in electronics engineering from Korea University in Seoul. Prior to joining SK Telecom, he worked as a software engineer, system architect and project manager of telco equipment development such as ATM Switch, MPLS Router, and CDMA/WCDMA/WiMAX/LTE systems in Ericsson, Nortel and LG for 15 years.
