Jarkko Oksala works as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for City of Tampere, Finland. His role include responsibility for strategic ICT leadership and digital transformation for city of Tampere and strategic ICT cooperation between nine cities within Tampere region.
Previously, he worked in the private sector as an ICT leadership consultant for couple of years helping companies from small to large scale to find tools to lead their ICT similarly to business. Prior to this role, Jarkko worked close to 15 years in the telecommunication business both on at the business and R&D side. He held positions like Quality Director: dedicated on creating quality mindset and key processes for business unit, Product Program Manager: responsible for mobile phone R&D and sales start for Japanese markets and as a Chief Engineer: focused on developing SW architecture and SW for world first commercial GPRS&EGPRS phones and improving the related standards in parallel.
Jarkko is also an inventor and he is author or co-author of nine different telecommunication related patents, some being essential to 3GPP standards.
Jarkko holds Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Tampere University of Technology and he is currently finalizing his General Executive MBA studies and thesis related to innovations and digital transformation.
