David is a senior consulting partner in the Strategic Relationship Management Group of Deloitte where he oversees the client relationships of a number of the firm’s global key accounts. He has over 30 years of experience applying innovative value creation approaches across a number of industries including energy, industrial & process manufacturing, life science & health care and biotechnology. More recently his work has also extended into financial services and the public sector. David has architected business strategies and led enterprise transformation programs with many global companies focused on strengthening competitive positioning through the creative application of IT & digital technology, leveraging core technologies into ancillary markets and accelerating business expansion. He is currently working with a number of clients to implement game-changing strategies for competing in the rapidly changing digital world and developing “digital ecosystems”. David has successfully pioneered innovative “joint venture” arrangements for partnering with clients in the marketplace to accelerate revenue growth and enhance profitability – a significant departure from the traditional advisory model in professional services and one that is growing in popularity. Furthermore he has applied creative commercial arrangements which tie professional remuneration to project and business performance outcomes thereby ensuring goal alignment with client management. David has also advised private equity clients in the structuring of numerous M&A transactions and led the subsequent integration and transformation of the businesses. He has developed and applied innovative approaches for collaborating with investors and management to accelerate value creation throughout the “investment life cycle”.
Prior to entering the consulting arena, David spent many years with Imperial Chemical Industries where he held a variety of senior management positions in Canada, the US and the London head office. In his last role at ICI, he was the CFO of the Chemicals and Polymers division based in the US. He was also part of the core team that developed the strategy for repositioning ICI from a commodity to specialty chemical company.
David has extensive international management and client service experience. He has spoken regularly about the innovative application of IT & digital technology, M&A and performance management at numerous conferences in Europe, Asia and North America.
David has Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Chemical Engineering (BASc) and an MBA, both from the University of Toronto and he is a Chartered Accountant (CA). He also attended the Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School.
David is a director on several external boards including the TM Forum.
